Drawing from Cambodia's Buddhist tradition, said Gupta, "If you meditate you can actually reduce your stress, you can become more empathetic toward others, you can even increase your attention span. But there is more than that even, there is this recent study that showed simply meditating can reduce your risk of heart disease. They found that people who meditated for 20 minutes 2 times a day cut their risk of a heart attack and stroke by half.....I do it myself. A lot of times I focus on a single word. My word is gentle. I just focus on that word, I do this in the morning, I do this in the evening, I can feel my blood pressure start to drop, I can feel my heart rate start to slow, who doesn't want that? My phrase is more meditation, less medication."
